A world with friends Proms

A world with friends Proms

Why we need your help

A world with friends is the new name for the charity previously known as Friend Finder reg charity no. 1175539

After realising how big the problem was our founder Lewis Hine decided to change the name to make it global

Fighting a life limiting illness it tough but the loneliness and isolation that comes with years of missing school through hospital treatment is even tougher.

The school prom has become something young people look forward to for years but for many chronically ill and disabled children its just a dream. Many are unable to attend their own school's prom some because they may need a carer to accompany them, or be in hospital at the time of the prom or just have no friends to go with.

Lewis Hine was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour at 17 months old. He has drug resistant epilepsy and a mechanical pump in his brain that keeps him alive. Lewis started friend Finder after years of hospital meant he had no friends.

In 2017 Lewis watched his school Prom on social media from his hospital bed in Great Ormond St. He decided to plan his own Prom and thats exactly what he did.He put on the Prom of all Proms for 150 disabled and sick children who were unable to go to their own school prom.

This Prom was filmed as part of a CBBC documentary about Lewis - do click on the link and watch this and you will see what an amazing young man he is and exactly what these proms mean to the children we help!

Prom guests last year said that it was the best night of their life and was a dream come true!  They made new friends and laughed and danced. Every child took a parent or carer as their plus one and there were so many wheelchairs, oxygen tanks, feeding tubes accessorising the prom gowns that the room was breath taking and for once not one of these children felt different!

Lewis is raising money to ensure the Proms continue but not just in the south of England but accross the UK. Life is hard for these amazing children and it would be great to give them something to look forward to and smile about.

This year A world with friends holds Proms across the country to give young people te night of their life but we need your help to raise money to pay for them

Please help us provide these children with an amazing night and memories that will last a life time!
