Woking Menzies Triathlon 2018

Teddy Menzies is busy walking, swimming and cycle training for the Woking Menzies Triathlon. He is not keen on doing this on his own so it’s time to sign up for one, two or all three stages and start our fundraising.

The Charities

In 2018 we are raising funds for two cancer charities, The Fountain Centre and Topic of Cancer. Both are local Surrey based charities.

What they do

“The Foundation Centre”

The Fountain Centre is a charity for cancer patients, their families and carers located in the St Luke’s cancer unit at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford. They offer advice, counselling and a huge range of complementary therapies, in a calming and relaxed atmosphere.

“Topic of Cancer”

Topic of Cancer are a patient led and totally volunteer run charity supporting a leading research team into immunotherapy as a treatment and cure for cancer and improving quality of life as against chemotherapy and other approaches.  Based on site with the Royal Surrey County

Hospital allows the scientist to work with live cultures direct from theatre, a unique arrangement. They also provide increasing numbers of local support groups across the UK.

 In 2018 we are setting ourselves an ambitious target of raising £4,000 (including gift aid) so we will need all the help possible getting sponsorship.

The challenge is open to Menzies staff, ex Woking staff, family and friends and you can take part in one, two or all three stages of our Woking office Triathlon.

Challenge:       10 mile walk, 1000 metre swim, 20 mile cycle

Stages             Stage 1 – Walk from Menzies Woking office to Guildford Lido (along the   River)

Stage 2 – Guildford Lido Swim, walk to station and train to Woking for cycle        change over point

Stage 3 – Train to Fleet and then Fleet to Woking office cycle mainly along the canal path stopping off at The Swan Ashvale for food and refreshments.

Date                Saturday 23^rd June 2018. The first stage will start around 6.00am.
