Kingston Dragon Boat Race 22 July 2018

Why we need your help

Momentum Children's Charity is very excited to be taking part in the Annual Kingston Rotary Dragon Boat Race!  Sunday 22 July from 9:30am.  Kingston Riverside, Canbury Gardens

Dragon Boat racing is an exciting and fun filled event that gives the local community an opportunity to put together teams to race in Dragon Boats and raise money for charity.  Momentum Children’s Charity are putting together a boat full of supporters and we would love you to join us!  £25 per person to register and you will get a full safety briefing.

No previous experience is necessary as training will be given on the day. Anyone over the age of 12 is welcome to take part.   We will keep you going with drinks and snacks throughout the day as well as provide you with a team t-shirt!

Each team is made up of a minimum 12 people (maximum 16) plus a drummer to beat time for the crew. A maximum of 60 teams will compete and races will take place every 15 minutes throughout the day. Subject to weather conditions, each team will race at least three times over the 250 metre course .

The event starts with the first race at 9.30 a.m. (We have requested that our start times are a bit later!) and ends with a dramatic 8 boat final
at approximately 4.30p.m.  The Dragon Boat Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the fastest team in the final, and there will be runners up, mixed and youth team trophies as well.

The event offers a great day out for all the family with stalls and sideshows, food court, plus plenty of space for team supporters and spectators alike to watch the racing.
