Virgin Money London Marathon 2019
Why we need your help
Welcome to the Dementia UK 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon campaign page! Here you can see how all of our amazing London Marathon fundraisers are getting on and how much they have raised as a team.
Dementia is the major health issue of our time. Every three minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed.
Dementia can rob a person of their memory, ability to communicate and socialise, and alter their personality and mood. But it's not just the person with dementia who is affected - the toll on their families can be huge too. 670,000 relatives and friends care for people with dementia, often with little help and advice.
Nothing can truly prepare families for how dementia can turn their lives upside down. But Dementia UK makes sure they don’t have to cope alone. When things get challenging or difficult, our Admiral Nurses work alongside families, giving the one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions that can be hard to find elsewhere.
£470 could pay for a day of essential clinical supervision and training for 5 Admiral Nurses, ensuring the highest level of care at all times
£6,750 could pay for a nurse to answer calls from struggling families during the week for two months
£53,000 could fund the costs of Admiral Nurses on a new telephone line, giving life-changing advice and support on the Dementia Helpline Monday to Friday for an entire year
£100,000 could fund a brand new Admiral Nurse for the first two years in an area where specialist dementia care is desperately needed
