Help Red Ant’s Philanthropy team raise £8,000 for PAPYRUS

PAPYRUS is the national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide

PAPYRUS believes suicide need not be the inevitable outcome of feeling suicidal and that with the right help, support, and advice, together we can save young lives.

As a supporter of PAPYRUS, we are part of a community of people with the shared vision that many young suicides are preventable. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people in the UK; 1,666 people under 35 took their own life in 2016. But together, there is hope that we can create a society free of the stigma surrounding suicide, with the resources to support young people who may be struggling.

PAPYRUS runs HOPELineUK, a confidential support and advice service by phone, text or email for young people under the age of 35 who may be having thoughts of suicide, as well as anyone concerned about a young person who may be suicidal. Feedback from callers shows that by talking through their feelings and developing a safe plan with the advisor, they are able work through their thoughts of suicide and stay safe.

This year, Red Ant’s charity team Philanthropy aims to raise £8,000 to support the vital work PAPYRUS does:

Just £5 can pay for one call, text or email to the HOPELineUK
£20 can pay for one 20 minute call to help a young person in distress overcome their pain and stay safe
£165 can cover the cost of training someone in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST)
£800 would enable 30 members of the community to learn how to identify a person at risk of suicide and understand the reasons why
£1,200 would help us deliver 5 mental health and suicide awareness sessions to young people
£5,000 would keep HOPELineUK open for vulnerable young people and those around them for an entire week

Peak District Challenge – your donation makes a difference!

We’re running a number of fundraising events throughout the year, but this is the big one – this July, thirteen Ants will be taking part in the Peak District Challenge, a tough but rewarding 50km trek through Derbyshire’s famous peaks.

We need your help to meet our fundraising goal – show your support for the team and PAPYRUS by making a donation, no matter how small. Your contribution will make a real difference to vulnerable young lives.
