Support us as we move SPAL - the nation's third largest collection of loan and reference materials for music, drama, dance and film - to its new home.

Our target is to raise £125,000 - this will only be possible with help from generous supporters and users of the Library like yourself.

In this transition period, as NewSPAL gets off the ground, we need to:

  • engage professional help
  • acquire Nottingham Libraries' specialist software
  • take an inventory and catalogue the stock

and then there's the cost of moving and re-installing the books, scores, and cds, and the shelving on which it all sits.

Moving the collection from its present SCC location (Bourne Hall, Ewell) to our new, more central premises in Woking will be a major feat of logistics and IT.

The loan collection is well-used and supported by performing arts groups within Surrey and the adjoining counties, and well beyond.

After many months of consultation and planning, NewSPAL's trustees have finally persuaded Surrey County Council that we will be worthy managers of the SPAL collections.

Our volunteers have a vast range of expertise in fields including property, law, IT, finance, librarianship, HR and many more.

We really appreciate the support and staying power of those who have already pledged money. The level of public support, and the generosity that has come with it, has been essential in getting us this far, and essential to convincing SCC that the collection could have a future in the charitable sector.

We hope you will give generously.
