In December 2019, four Royal Navy submariners will row unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean departing from the Canary Islands to reach Nelson's Dockyard Antigua a month later. Their aim is to be the first team to cross the finish line, and to raise over £100,000 for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity to develop a specific project around improving mental health in the submarine community.

You can donate to their fund directly or set up your own fundraiser to be part of the HMS OARDACIOUS challenge.

The Atlantic Challenge in Numbers:

- The race distance is 3,000 miles from start to finish
- Each team will row in excess of 1.5 million oar strokes over a race
- Rowers will row for 2 hours, and sleep for 2 hours, 24 hours a day
- The waves the rowers will experience can measure up to 20ft hight
- Each rowers needs to aim to consume 10 litres of water a day
- Rowers burn in excess of 5,000 calories per day and lose on average 12kg of body mass crossing the Atlantic
