Warm and Safe Homes Campaign

Why we need your help

Support NEA’s Warm and Safe Homes Campaign
NEA is the award-winning UK charity that works to ensure that everyone in
the UK can afford to live in a warm, dry home. Our mission is: ‘No one living
in Fuel Poverty’.
There are 4 million UK households living in fuel poverty, so over 10 million
people. On average 10,000 people will die each winter because they live in
a cold, damp home. Many millions more people suffer the health impacts of
poor housing, which costs the NHS £1.4 billion per year.
The Warm and Safe Homes Campaign (WASH) aims to raise awareness of
these issues and focus on the solutions available to make homes warmer and
safer. It also aims to obtain cross-party support and commitment to tackle
fuel poverty, and enable support at a local level to help vulnerable people
with their energy needs.

In the last year our WASH Campaign, working with coalition partners, has had huge impact, including:

• WE contributed to positive outcomes in relation to the next phase of the
Energy Company Obligation; the extension of the Warm Home Discount
Scheme, new powers within the Digital Economy Act and Minimum
Energy Efficiency requirements on private landlords.
• WE helped shape Ofgem’s price cap for prepayment meter customers
and its extension to other groups of vulnerable consumers, proposals
to extend the responsibilities of network companies to vulnerable
consumers and Ofgem’s vulnerability principles.
• WE campaigned to include energy efficiency as a National Infrastructure
Commission key priority.

YOUR support for the WASH campaign going forward will help fund:

AT A NATIONAL LEVEL: Continuing our campaigning at a policy level within Governments and Parliaments, demonstrating how effective policies can deliver practical outcomes for fuel poor households.

AT A COMMUNITY LEVEL: Providing small grants to community based organisations to enable them to raise awareness and hand hold vulnerable people to access support.

Providing advice and support for INDIVIDUALS by establishing a hardship fund, and through the production of independent resources including the Warm & Safe Homes Action Guide.

YOUR donation, whatever size, can make a HUGE difference.

Please contact Jen Carruthers Jones - jcj@nea.org.uk - to donate or find out more about supporting the campaign.

This campaign is now closed, and no longer accepting donations.
