PLUS Garden and Indoor Revamp
Why we need your help
PLUS has a proactive group of staff who are volunteering their time, energy and creative sparks to help improve our offering for children and young people with disabilities in the Stirling area.
Our premises are in need of a revamp. This will take place across a few different phases, as we are able to bring in the relevant income to make positive change.
The first stages will involve Enterprise Cars coming in for a day of volunteering where they will begin the work to overhaul our space. This will then be further developed by the Community payback team and B&Q who will be providing lots of hours of support throughout July.
The tasks they will be working on includes:
- Painting outdoor woodwork
- Painting fencing
- Weeding
- Laying new slabs
- Knocking down a wall
- Creating a mud kitchen
- Developing an outdoor magnetic board, chalk board and painting screen
- Introducing a seated area
- Designing a sensory pathway
- Making some sensory walls (indoor and out)
- Redecorating internally
- Building a mud kitchen
- Attach bamboo fencing to the current metal railings
- Resources to fill the new planters, eg lavender, bamboo or other grasses, climbing roses, perennial herbs like sage, lemonbalm, rosemary, chives, a buddleia for butterflies, raspberry and other fruit canes
The second stage will have two main strands. The first will be to redesign the sensory room and the second will be to introduce more opportunities for child led play in the outdoor area. Both of these will require additional cash injections, which are more likely to come through applications to Trust and Grants. We will keep you updated on our progress.
However, in order to get going through July 2019, we require some additional income to be able to put these ideas into action. We are delighted that Stirling Rotary Club have donated £500 to our project. We are also meeting with lots of the local businesses to seek donations of cash or resources to help us to achieve our aim. In addition to this, we require an additional £1000 to be able to purchase all items.
If you are able to contribute financially - this would be much appreciated. Even a small donation of £5 will help our project - particularly if we are able to claim gift aid on your donation. If we go beyond our target, the donations will be able to go towards our second stage of developments as noted above.
If you/your company are unable to donate cash, but have some time and an interest in design, gardening or painting then please do get in touch as we can never put a price on the contribution of volunteers!!!
