This is the team page for John's Walk for Freedom!
All team members have already sponsored John for his challenge to walk Land's End to John o'Groats this Autumn - but each want to take it a step further and are joining him to walk the miles they have sponsored!
Why are we doing it?
Today, an estimated 40 million people are trapped in slavery, more than ever before. John's daughter, Zoe, recently started working for the most incredible organisation, International Justice Mission (IJM). He and his wife Fiona have since grown a passion to see an end to modern-slavery in our lifetime...so they thought they better get a move on as John turns 60 this year...
IJM are are the largest anti-slavery organisation in the world. A global team of undercover investigators, social workers and lawyers working to protect the world's poorest by partnering with local authorities to...
1) Rescue victims from slavery and other forms of violence
2) Walk with survivors on their journey to recovery
3) Prosecute criminals for their crime
4) Strengthen justice systems to ensure laws against slavery are enforced
So far they have rescued over 49,000 people, their largest rescue operation freeing 564, but many are still waiting. By sponsoring John's co-walkers, you are a part of sending rescue to those who need it most.
How can you get involved?
WALK - John and Fiona will be on the road sleeping in a borrowed camper van from 21st September until 16th November (approximately). They would love you to join them, for an hour, a day, a week. Have a look at the route and see where / when would best suit. Get in touch at email@example.com for more information.
GIVE - Join us in funding rescue by sponsoring Johns' co-walkers on this challenge. You can do this in 2 ways:
1) £15 per mile - they will be walking approximately 20 miles a day, so sponsor a mile for £15, half a day for £150, a day for £300, or a week for £2,100.
2) Any amount would be hugely appreciated, so feel free to donate as you wish!
SHARE - We want to spread awareness of modern-slavery, please share this campaign with anyone you can and start a conversation about how you can join the fight to end slavery in our lifetime.
On behalf of all who will be free because of your support – thank you. Please do follow John's walk on his Facebook and Instagram page for walk updates, stories and more information about the incredible work of IJM.
