Seychelles Curieuse Island Conservation

Why we need your help

Curieuse in the Seychelles has rich conservation history and high quality wildlife experiences, attracting many tourists and generating significant revenue to the economy but due to past human activity, habitats have been sadly been degraded. We aim to provide scientific data for sustainable management of Curieuese and through the provision of qualified staff, volunteers and logistical resources, we rely on data collected by GVI Trust Seychelles, in its decision making regarding park operations.

GVI Trust Seychelles has been operating in since 2007, with a remit to provide scientific monitoring data to inform sustainable management. Through qualified, experienced staff, volunteers and logistical resources, We rely heavily on the data collected by GVI Trust in its decision making. National parks are visited frequently for the wildlife experience, generating revenue for the economy. Scientific monitoring is crucial for the sustainability of activities to effectively rehabilitate habitats.

GVI Trust Curieuse runs around eight scientific monitoring programs. Each of these programs requires significant input of resources such as staff, accommodation, fuel, and scientific monitoring equipment, without which the projects would not be able to run.

Long-Term Impact

Contributions to the operating expenses of the GVI Trust Seychelles Curieuse expedition would ensure the continuation of current science projects, and the addition of new high priority projects not possible with current levels of resources.
