150 Acre Maize Blessing
Why we need your help
RedTribe 150 Acre Maize Project
A Community of Maasai in the Loita Hills have been severely affected by the Covid-19 lockdown during the last year. Most people have lost their income, and food supplies have been cut off. We can help bring hope and turn their situation around by helping them to plant their vegetable garden with Maize – their staple diet.
In this area of Maasai land there is nearly 100% unemployment. Families are living hand to mouth every day. The poorest families will not be able to afford to plough and plant their gardens with maize, nor will they be able to afford school fees for their children in the coming year.
Failing to plant will mean no food for their families and being trapped in a cycle of debt.
We would like to help these families to plough and plant their gardens in the months of January and February. Each family typically has 2 acres of land to plant.
They will be responsible for looking after and harvesting their crop.
Each family will be asked to tithe 1 bag of maize, which will be used to help other families for the following planting season.
RedTribe will oversee this and grow the “Tithe” in subsequent Years to help more poor families using the same tithing principle.
The Chiefs and elders have identified vulnerable families – mainly widows with children -who will be unable to feed themselves without help.
Our RedTribe Team will use this opportunity not only to bring the good news of planting their gardens, but use it to bring the good news of Jesus to them.
