HIDEOUT YOUTH ZONE STAFF MEMBER TAKES ON EPIC 50KM CHALLENGE

On December 31st, Eamonn Muldoon, a youth worker at HideOut Youth Zone will be running 50km in one day to help raise funds for the Gorton based youth charity.

Growing up in Gorton, East Manchester, Eamonn wanted to give something back to the community, so in September this year, he started working at HideOut Youth Zone and quickly developed a great relationship with young people and staff at the charity. HideOut Youth Zone is a new youth charity operating from a £6.6million state-of-the-art facility which aims to provide young Mancunians with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to, 7 days a week, all year round.

Eamonn outlined: “It will be massively rewarding to complete my yearlong challenge but nowhere near as rewarding as working for the HideOut Youth Zone and having the opportunity to work with the children in the local community where I grew up, which is a massive honor for me”

At the age of 36, Eamonn took the decision to change his life for the better by using exercise as a catalyst of change. His incredible fitness journey started i2018 after he set up an Instagram page to begin documenting his progress. Since then, Eamonn has completed a range of 10k runs, half and full marathons, an ultra-marathon and is now also a qualified personal trainer. In 2020, he set himself the goal of running 5km every day for the whole year and is yet to miss a day.

Adam FarrickerHideOut CEO said I grew up in the same area and went to the same schools as Eamonn and have been inspired by his story over the last few years. Covid-19 has been challenging for us all but especially for young people and the benefits of exercise on your physical and mental health are clear. We are extremely proud of Eamonn and what he has achieved and thrilled that he us finishing off his incredible 365-day challenge by raising awareness of the important charitable work we all do locally.”

To finish the year with a bang, Eamonn is now undertaking his biggest challenge yet. On December 31st he will be running 50km in one day to help raise funds and awareness of the positive effects that exercise can have on our mental health.
