Bradford Resilience Fund
Why we need your help
GiveBradford Resilience Fund
Supporting charities and community groups across Bradford that are experiencing exceptional difficulties operating as a result of the National Emergency measures resulting from COVID-19.
We are already hearing from community organisations about the challenges they are facing supporting isolated and vulnerable communities across Bradford and those people who, by having to self-isolate, are potentially at further risk of harm. All the good practice they have built up over years of diversifying income sources from trading, fundraising and relying on volunteers, has been taken away overnight as a result of the measures that Public Health England have introduced to keep us all safer. That has in some cases, threatened the viability of these community organisations and therefore the continuation of their vital work.
Until robust plans come forward on how to support these vital organisations, they need to be confident they have the running costs in place to continue to operate so they are able to support our most vulnerable in the months to come.
GiveBradford has always trusted communities to know how best to serve individuals and the interests of their beneficiaries. We have established the GiveBradford Resilience Fund to respond to the needs of these groups and offer urgent financial support to cover core costs, volunteer expenses, staff costs and transport.
We are currently calling on individuals and businesses to support this local initiative and help those that need it most. Your donation will ensure that vulnerable, isolated, and fragile communities will be held together during this crisis and community projects will continue to be here to support local people for years to come.
DONATE NOW or if you wish to discuss your donation please email firstname.lastname@example.org. GiveBradford is managed by registered charity Leeds Community Foundation.
GiveBradford has leveraged existing funds of £100,000 to enable us to start distributing grants immediately and effectively to organisations already known to us and where we have carried out due diligence, meaning grants can be made as quickly as possible. In order to open a second round of funding in the coming months to support the wider sector we need your help and donations to raise much needed funds.
We are working closely with partners including the National Emergency Trust (NET) to ensure the Resilience Fund aligns and complements their national appeal, which will distribute money raised through a number of charitable organisations, including Community Foundations. This funding will be in addition to grants we award through the Resilience Fund and may have different arrangements.
GiveBradford's own income is being significantly affected by the economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. To make sure we can run the Fund effectively and cover the necessary staff time, we will retain 8% of the net amount of new gifts to the Funds contributions to these costs.
That means if your gift is eligible, the cost contribution will in effect come from the Gift Aid we claim. In recognition of the scale of the crisis, this is significantly less than the contribution we normally retain from funds. The contribution is something we will keep under review as the outbreak and our work in response progresses.
Information for charities and community organisations seeking funding:
We realise many local charities and community organisations are looking for urgent help. We will provide opportunities on how to access additional funding as soon as we can. Alongside this we are working hard to keep our existing programmes running. We have prepared guidance for community organisations, outlining how we will provide financial flexibility and discuss alternative delivery and reporting dates.
