COSMIC Christmas Appeal

Why we need your help

COSMIC (Children of St Mary's Intensive Care) treats hundreds critically ill children from across London, the Home Counties and further afield.

All the children that come to St Mary's are in a critical condition having fallen ill with a life threatening illness such as meningitis, sepsis or severe trauma from an accident.

Families arrive in shock and scared for their child's life. COSMIC is here to help every child and family - we fund vital state-of-the-art equipment, emotional and practical support for families, research into life threatening diseases and accommodation so that parents can be near their critically ill child.

Every year COSMIC runs a Carols by Candlelight Concert and Christmas party for the children and families that have been through so much. Sadly, this year we have had our equipment and toys for these events stolen. Even Santa's suit went missing.

With our storage area now out of commission, COSMIC Charity is appealing to any Christmas Elves out there to help the charity replenish by making a donation.

Below are some ideas of how you can help:

£10 buys a present for a child who has been through an incredibly difficult time

£5 buys a Christmas decoration

£3 buys a candle that families can light to remember or reflect on the last year

Any money raised over the target amount will be used to create an even bigger and better experience for children over Christmas and to continue to support children and families of critically ill children.

COSMIC's 'Home from Home' Appeal

Families arrive in the middle of the night often with nothing but the clothes on their back, scared that their child may not make it through the night. COSMIC does as much as possible to help these children and families through this incredibly traumatic time. However, at the moment we are not able to offer onsite accommodation to parents, meaning that they have to stay streets away from their critically ill child and have no ability to wash their clothes, cook healthy meals or have anywhere to spend time with their other children.

COSMIC's ambition is to change that by creating a dedicated onsite 'Home from Home' unit with 12 bedrooms, family lounges, kicthen and dining facilities, a laundry room and children's play areas. COSMIC's Home from Home Appeal aims to raise £600,000 to transform a unused ward into a Home from Home for families.
