Finding yourself on the streets homeless is one of the scariest moments in your life. Not only is it cold, especially in the Winter months, but it is also extremely dangerous.

Whatever the circumstances behind how this situation has developed, help is at hand to assist you and signpost you to the right agencies who can provide a long-term solution to your accommodation problem.

But those first early nights of rough sleeping can be daunting and ever so challenging and that’s where the BYHP Housing Advice Service can help immediately.

The BYHP Housing Advice Service is designed to support young people who are in Housing crisis to find and maintain suitable and affordable accommodation. Once a young person presents as Homeless, it is the role of the Housing Advice Worker to assess each person’s situation to figure out what type of support will be most beneficial to them. If BYHP cannot provide that support, we will then seek to refer them to the correct external agencies.

So just to be clear we do not provide our own accommodation but, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, we have funds that can secure you a haven such as bed and breakfast or suitable camping (more so in the summer months) meaning you are not rough sleeping immediately. It buys us time to work with you and sort out what the right solution is given your circumstances.

It may well be that emergency accommodation for single people is available via the No Second Night Out Protocol (NSNO) which is run and administered by Cherwell District Council.

We will be right beside you throughout the whole process giving the right advice and help with the necessary forms which can often be challenging.

Our Winter emergency accommodation fund is a short-term answer designed to get someone off the streets right away. However, it is a fund with limited resources and needs to be topped up in order eliminate rough sleeping from the outset.

Please support our Winter Emergency Accommodation Fund to help young people avoid being stigmatised with rough sleeping. Thank you.
