Why we need your help
I write to you today with an urgent appeal.
As the country braces itself against COVID-19, we are now sadly seeing the full impact on our small charity.
We have closed our 14 Community Clubs across London and postponed all events. Our coaching and training partners have cancelled their sessions. These are the right things to do – nothing is more important than the health and wellbeing of the vulnerable adults and children we serve.
However, our work doesn’t stop. Without our weekly clubs, hundreds of disabled people across London will feel more isolated than ever. Hundreds of disabled people have lost the only opportunity they have to meet friends, play sport and keep active.
When our coaches told members at Club Lambeth about closing, one member Taslim said, ‘We can’t close – this is the only thing I do! What am I going to do?’ It broke my heart to hear it.
Please help us
We are working desperately hard to adapt. We want to send equipment such as tennis balls and footballs to those in need with simple guides for games. We’ll do online videos and social media challenges to keep disabled people active, reduce feelings of isolation and support mental health.
However, our income is expected to drop by over 80% in the coming months. We desperately need your help.
I know everyone is going through hugely challenging times. But I am more determined than ever to make sure we are still here when disabled adults, children, parents and carers need us.
