Why we need your help

Our vision is to create a truly world class mountain bike and adventure sports facility, right in the heart of Aberdeenshire.

This is your opportunity to help us turn this dream into a reality, either by donating, fundraising or investing.

There is a geographical gap in the North East of Scotland when it comes to dedicated, purpose-built mountain bike facilities. The volunteer team at Gravitate North East is addressing this by progressing with our plans to build an exciting and unique facility in Durris forest, between Banchory and Stonehaven, just 15 miles from Aberdeen City.

Once operational, the facility will deliver a community led project that will put the Aberdeen region on the map as a globally recognised mountain bike and adventure sports destination, providing an anchor for the Aberdeenshire adventure sports vision. The site will have over 45 km of mountain bike trails, a café, shop and many complimentary, family friendly adventure activities. It will become a place where individuals can connect with nature and the outdoors in a safe yet stimulating environment. Over 80 new jobs will be created and the facility will inject around £2.5 million per year into the local economy.

The Durris mountain bike and adventure park is a bold project, but one that will be self-funding once fully operational, offering significant health, social and economic benefits. As we move from the conceptual phase through to land acquisition, detailed design and planning, we reach a stage of the project where support from the local community and local businesses will be crucial in allowing us to move forward.

By financially supporting our project, you will help us get one step closer to gaining planning permission and land access so that the construction phase can commence. During 2020 we need to raise £150,000 to fund project management costs, community engagement and marketing, legal costs for land access negotiation, planning study coordination and delivery, planning application fees and community consultation and employ a full-time project manager to drive the project forward.

There are 3 key ways that you can help support our project:

1. Donating

The simplest way is by making a direct donation to the charity. Just click below on the amount you would like to donate and follow the instructions. You can also manually enter a custom amount.

2. Fundraising

Become a Gravitate Fundraising Champion by starting your own fundraising campaign or select us as your chosen charity for your 2020 fundraising initiatives. You can fundraise as a team or an individual.

When you hit the first fundraising milestone of £500, you'll receive an invitation to our VIP pre-opening event, a custom Gravitate jersey and a 'Gravitate Fundraising Champion' certificate.

If you are successful in raising £1000 or more, you will be elevated to the status of 'Gold Anodised Fundraiser' and receive a special gold anodised certificate.

Then, for every additional £500 raised, you will receive one extra jersey and one extra VIP invite. The total number of invites and jerseys available is limited to 40 and will be allocated on a first past the post basis. So, if you want to take advantage of this amazing opportunity, you'd better get cracking with your fundraising!

In addition to attending our big VIP pre-opening party, Our Fundraising Champions will be among the very first people to experience the facility, trails and activities.
