Our annual High Holy Days appeal is an opportunity for the community to make a difference. Thank you for giving whatever you can afford, we welcome donations of all sizes.

This year we are seeking to support 4 charities as part of the High Holy Day appeal.

This years charities are the Malcolm Hart Foundation (MHF),   Beit Tefilah Israeli, Chai Cancer Care and  Radlett Reform

You are able to donate online or can send a donation to the office.

Note on distribution of monies
All monies will be distributed equally across our 4 charities unless you tell us otherwise. You can tell us as part of the online donation process.

Malcolm Hart Foundation (MHF)
Last year, Radlett Reform member, Malcolm Hart, just 60, sadly lost his courageous fight with Leukaemia. His wife, Ros, together with their children, Lia and Ben subsequently established the Malcolm Hart Foundation (MHF). The care that Malcolm received during his illness was faultless. The NHS staff are dedicated and very special people. However, support for family members needs improving, as do some of the patient facilities. The MHF has a mission to make the journey of patients and family members going through the same experience with blood related cancers easier to bear, by providing better facilities. Working alongside Hammersmith hospital initially – where Malcolm was treated – but eventually other hospitals too – to provide services that are not in the NHS budget, but which are equally important. Their first target is to fund a purpose-built Phlebotomy Suite in the Haematology Wing at Hammersmith hospital which will be more comfortable, private and fit for purpose than the facility currently offers.

Beit Tefilah Israeli

It is our tradition to support an Israeli charity as part of our High Holy Day appeal. This year, we have chosen the young, creative congregation of Beit Tefilah Israeli in Tel Aviv. An inclusive community, they have created an experimental Jewish community that draws heavily on Israeli culture and music. Described as a ‘synagogue without walls and an open tent for all’, their signature programme is the summer Kabbalat Shabbat services on the deck opposite the sea at the Tel Aviv Port. Hundreds of people come together to sing, pray, and share in a meaningful evening service, welcoming Shabbat in an innovative, creative, and culturally Israeli way.

Chai Cancer Care
Chai Cancer Care provides comprehensive, professional and expert services to any member of the Jewish community affected by cancer - patients, their families and friends. Chai operates from 9 sites across the UK, including one in Hendon. Clients can attend these or receive 1-2-1 services in their own homes or benefit from telephone support. Chai provides a wide range of services; from therapies and complementary therapies to group activities and counselling to advisory services. Chai also has a medical outpatient rehabilitation and palliative care service. Clients are helped to access NHS or social services care to ensure they receive the optimum services available. Chai is staffed by fully trained, accredited professional staff. It does not receive any statutory funding and does not charge clients for their services.

Radlett Reform
Each year, in addition to our external chosen charities we ask members to support a special project at Radlett Reform that wouldn’t otherwise be met by our general income. This year we want to update and enhance the bimah area of our main sanctuary, which is looking a little tired, in order to create a modern, flexible prayer space
