Harington's Herbie Hut

Why we need your help

We are currently fundraising for a shepherd hut that will be used to teach small groups of students. The 'Herbie Hut' will be a special learning space nestled into the hillside overlooking our vegetable gardens in the Highgate Bowl.

Harington is a charity set up in 1980 by the Highgate community to support young people with learning difficulties and disabilities by delivering tailor made programmes and work experience designed to help them into employment, further education and towards a more rewarding life.

Former actress Fiona Walker is a volunteer at the Harington Scheme and she is donating part of the cost of the shepherd hut in memory of her late husband, the renowned film and television director, Herbert Wise.

Fiona Walker and Herbert Wise used to own a cottage in Winwick, Northants, where Tithe Barn Shepherd Huts is located. Proprietors Phillip and Sally Bradbury are exclusively producing the ‘Herbie Hut’ for the Harington; it will be handcrafted from solid timber with vaulted ceiling beams set on cast iron wheels and is the perfect size for a small classroom providing much needed extra space and warmth. www.shepherd-huts.com

With your help Harington students will benefit from learning in the Herbie Hut for many years to come.
