Yazidi Village

Yazidi Village

Why we need your help

GHNI is working with Yazidi families who have fled from extremists when their homes were attacked in Sinjar, Bozni, Shixan, and Mosul. Because of this, a new community of refuge has been formed. These families do not live in government-controlled camps because of internal culture conflict, and they do not feel safe because of this.

Many families have lost someone during these harsh times, and are being forced to live in small tents, abandoned buildings, and containers. The Yazidi families are large, usually around 10 people per household. It is difficult for them to find work, and when they do, it is typically low-pay, farm labor.

The Yazidi refugee camp is now transitioning into a Transformational Community Development (TCD) village. When the people no longer need relief aid, GHNI will provide TCD training and support where and when appropriate.
