Lockdown Inspiration at The MoRW
Why we need your help
Support the Museum of Royal Worcester through lockdown and discover inspiration #MuseumFromHome
The Museum of Royal Worcester celebrates an exceptional heritage of local and international importance - the largest collection of Worcester porcelain in the world and the design archive - over 10,000 objects in world-class surroundings. We engage people with 250 years of colourful history and inspirational ceramic design, local skill and innovation that created things of beauty and utility out of the ‘white gold’ of porcelain, and transported it across the globe.
The Museum receives no regular public funding and relies on visitor income to sustain this rich heritage in the place where it was made and deliver our purpose to make it accessible now and into the future. It’s been tough closing the doors just as the Museum enters the busy Spring season, wiping out our income and putting this magnificent inheritance in jeopardy. You can help support the Museum to get through these challenging times and beyond by making a donation
We welcome more than 12,000 visitors each year to our stunning, contemporary galleries, described as ‘amongst the wonders of the world, a magical place’. With the onset of Covid-19, we're missing our visitors in person but have been working hard to stay connected online. https://www.museumofroyalworcester.org/learning/enjoy-the-museum-from-home/
Enjoy a virtual tour of the Museum by taking the illustrated audio-guide online – newly available free of charge during lockdown thanks to Antenna International, providers of the guide!
We're sharing stories of Worcester porcelain and staying connected with our #favouriteobject theme - follow the hashtag to find porcelain tales including Trustee of the Museum and TV antiques expert Philip Serrell talking from home about his favourite piece of Worcester porcelain.
Get creative with family activity sheets to download to inspire you to create your own colourful designs, ideal for families to do together.
Anything you can give at this time helps us look after and create more remote access to the collections now and for the future.
