The MLP App - Teaching the Nation
Why we need your help
We are excited to partner with Malawi Learning Partnership and the Ministry of Education in Malawi to bring learning to children in a new way.
COVID19 has resulted in schools being closed since March. The massive disruption in education and to the learning for students is hitting rural communities the hardest.
Most learners have no access to on-line learning and few have text books at home. Malawi Learning Partnership has developed an app which, when complete, will enable access to the entire Malawi primary curriculum. With videos from Malawian teachers, quizes, diagrams and illustrations, the app will make learning interesting and accessible to children when they are not in school.
It can also be used in under resourced schools so children can continue with their education despite a lack of teachers.
The app is in the development phase. We are videoing Malawian teachers and building lesson content starting with the top year of primary, before completing other year groups.
Teachers and helpers are giving their time voluntarily to the project but we are covering costs of travel, refreshments, teaching aids and data. We will also provide smartphones with power packs and headphones to rural schools for use by the learners.
Our vision is that this app will be used by both students and teachers in all parts of Malawi.
We and Malawi Learning Partnership would love your help to develop and roll out the app.
Please help us transform the learning environment for rural Malawian children in 2020 by sponsoring lessons or funding a phone.
