Marine House is healing young minds
Why we need your help
Marine House at Beer and sister art gallery Steam Gallery are supporting Action for Child Trauma (ACT) International to train people to treat children across the world who are suffering the effects of psychological trauma due to conflict, violence or disaster.
Our shared mission is to provide communities with the tools and training needed to treat traumatised children. We cannot change the terrible things that have happened to so many children in the world today, but we can - and do - change what happens next. By healing their young minds, they are given a chance of a better life in the future. ACT International teaches both group and individual art and play-based therapy techniques n which include and apply the latest knowledge about how trauma affects the brain, and what works in treatment.
ACT International is now 10 years old and has trained over 300 therapists who have in turn helped an estimated 3,000. Marine House wants to help ACT Intenational achieve its ambition of ten-fold growth over the next ten years, to meet escalating need in today's unstable world. Marine House and the Steam Gallery are encouraging its artists, suppliers and customers to join with them in supporting this fantastic cause which will change the future for so many children.
