Imagine a world without sight.

Now imagine it without sound too.

This is the reality facing children, young people and adults with Norrie disease, a rare genetic condition. There is no cure.

You can help the Norrie Disease Foundation fund research that could completely change the lives of those living with the condition, and stop our blind community going deaf.

Why are we fundraising?

Research into Norrie disease is severely underfunded. The current research looking into treating hearing loss at UCL Great Ormond St Hospital Institute of Child Health finishes in September 2020. If this research is not continued then the knowledge gained so far will be lost and we will not be able to stop our blind community from becoming deaf as well. The progressive hearing loss is one of the most devastating symptoms of Norrie disease and we desperately need to continue this research. But we need your help to do so.

Thanks to a partnership with Sparks and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, the Norrie Disease Foundation has the chance to change this if we can raise at least £50,000 by February 2020 to move forwards with pioneering research into stopping the hearing loss.

Research into Norrie disease has already made a difference but the only way we can get more answers and results is to get more research done.

Why is this important?

Understanding the causes of the hearing loss will enable researchers to develop therapies to prevent the hearing loss from happening, or to slow down, or stop, the progression. This will change the future for our blind community who have already lost one sense.
