The family of Noel Mary Goodwin, who announced her death last week, asked that donations at her funeral should go to The Mango Tree.

Noel's funeral is being held in Hampshire at the Basingstoke Crematorium on Friday 9th September at 4.15pm followed by tea/drinks at The Derby Pub.

Noel's family issued the following message: It is with enormous sadness yet an immense amount of pride that we make the following statement: Noel Mary Goodwin sadly slipped away from us in the early hours of the 23rd of August. For those of you who were lucky enough to know her, you will know what was a truly amazing lady. She didn't suffer in the end and went comfortably in her sleep in hospital. She had had MS for almost 50 years, but she never let the condition define her - in that time she managed to fit in an awful lot. She was lucky to visit over 50 countries, spoke multiple languages and had friends all over the world. She must be one of a select few to have travelled to all 7 continents in one year, a feat made all the more impressive as it was done in a wheelchair. She was always positive, never complaining, and offered support and love to all around her. She was a friend to many, a ski instructor to the privileged few, but above all, a wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandmother. You will be sorely missed but surely never forgotten. May you sleep well and remain in our thoughts. x

Our condolences to the Goodwin family on their sad loss. We did not know Noel well, but were always impressed by her stoical, positive attitude to life , but most of all by her amazing graciousness. She will be sadly missed but long remembered.

With fond memories of a wonderful sister.
