Why we need your help
Our SavePCHP campaign is now closed. You can still donate to Pilton Community Health Project via our Virgin Money Homepage here:
Help us SavePCHP and continue our work in food, families and focussed support.
Pilton Community Health Project (PCHP) is Scotland’s oldest community project, and has successfully played a vital role in the local community for over 34 years. Following unexpected funding cuts from local council and NHS, the future of PCHP is under threat. Help us keep our doors open so we can continue supporting people in one of the poorest areas in Scotland.
Who are we?
We have a long history of working in this community. From our beginnings in 1984 we have grown and developed our services, supporting thousands of local people over the years. The community we work in is one of the most deprived areas in Scotland. In the Forth area, 30% of children live in poverty.
The closure of PCHP would leave a huge gap in the community, leaving many local people with no support at all. We provide an essential lifeline, as we play a key role as a community anchor, making resources, training and skills available across the community. Local GP surgeries rely on PCHP and our closure would have a knock on effect on the NHS.
What's the plan?
With your help, PCHP can continue to support the local community through our work. Our campaign initally aimed to run for 28 days, however this has now been extended and will close on 18 April 2019. W are still aiming to raise 50k. We can do it with your help!
We aim to help people take steps towards better health through our work in food, with families, and through focussed support.
We want to continue empowering local people by providing:
- • Dignified access to food through our sharing shelves
- • Community cooking classes, providing healthy food education
• Local, affordable physical activities and walking groups
• Confidential counselling in the local area
• Affordable childcare in our community crèche
• One to one and group support through our Women Supporting Women project
• Link workers working in partnership with local GP surgeries, helping patients manage their own wellbeing
The Edinburgh Michelin star chefs backing our campaign are generously offering incredible incentives and rewards to support our campaign and show their support for the work of Pilton Community Health Project.
