Re-Opening Appeal

Why we need your help

  • This has been a long and difficult three months for everyone at the Patchworking Garden Project. The Garden was conceived as a safe and friendly place for people to relax and enjoy but in March this all came to an unexpected halt. Suddenly there was no community, no friendly faces, nowhere to go to feel safe.
  • Now we are preparing to re-open but our two main fund-raising Open Days - in April and June - were both cancelled with the loss of around £7,000 of the annual income that we need to run the garden ... it costs us around £1,000 per month.
We need your help to re-open
  • We plan to re-open in August but first we must ensure the safety of all who attend ... hygiene and social distancing are our priorities.
  • We need to install new hand-washing stations, create a new covered area for meeting and ensure a regular supply of PPE, disinfectant and hand-washing gel.
  • The immediate costs of re-opening are in excess of £5,000; with a further £6,000 to provide improved facilities for working under cover during the winter months.
  • Your donation - whether one-off or monthly* - will not only help us to equip the Garden for the re-opening but will keep things going until we can welcome you to an Open Day once again.
*If you would like to make a monthly donation then please click on 'Make a Donation' at the top of this page.

The best of luck to all involved. I regularly chomp on the chives growing in the raised veg bed at Deepdene station and thank you for that. I used to live in Dorking, and am temporarily away from the town, but hope one day soon to return and maybe even he
