Collective Action

Why we need your help

People’s History Museum (PHM) is urgently seeking donations to support its contemporary collecting work in response to the unprecedented events of 2020 against a challenging backdrop for the cultural sector.  The last few months represent important chapters in the history of people taking action which, as the national museum of democracy, PHM wants to ensure it can reflect in its collections.  We are asking people to help make history by backing PHM's dedicated fundraiser; Collective Action.
In the pre-Covid world, PHM’s contemporary collecting focused on migration, disabled people’s rights and the environment, serving to reflect the museum’s current and upcoming public programme themes.  With the global impact of events in 2020, in particular the Black Lives Matter movement and Covid-19, we are asking for support to help us increase the level of contemporary collecting we can carry out, helping ensure we are doing as much as possible to champion ideas worth fighting for.
Throughout the museum's necessary closure, PHM has continued to invite democratic discovery by sharing Ideas Worth Exploring, looking at workers’ rights, collective action, universal healthcare, equality and democracy.  Now more than ever, we must continue representing, exploring, and telling contemporary stories to inspire change for a fairer future.

Donating simply because people forget quickly the pain we have to endure when things aren?t going quite as well as ?usually?, and because most aren?t aware of even recent history. Thanks.
