QAC and Burlington Hotel 10k Challenge

QAC and Burlington Hotel 10k Challenge

Why we need your help

Proud to be joining Team QAC this year are James Bee and Derek McDonagh, both
from The Burlington Hotel in the City Centre. They’ve decided to combine their ‘love’
of running and support of QAC to take on the Birmingham 10k this May.
Not only that, they’ve added their own challenge element and have decided to take
part blindfolded in order to raise awareness for vision impairment, one of the
disabilities we support.
Supported by experienced guide runners Karl and Garry, they will ‘lose’ their sight
whilst waiting to cross the start line. They will then experience the City’s sounds and
smells as they pound the streets alongside thousands of other people before
crossing the finish line back into their ‘sighted’ world.
Although they are keen runners this will not be the running they are used to, calling
on their other senses and a great deal of trust. The Burlington Hotel team are fully
behind them, taking on running and vision impaired challenges of their own in the run
up to the event, so we really hope you are able to support them too.
All money raised by the team will go directly to supporting students at QAC, a
national college for people with disabilities, offering challenging learning opportunities
for them to realise their potential to live and work independently.
