Radlett Reform High Holydays 5780

Why we need your help

Our annual High Holydays appeal is an opportunity for the community to make a difference. Thank you for giving whatever you can afford, we welcome donations of all sizes.

This year we are seeking to support 4 charities as part of the High Holyday appeal.

This year's charities are ADD-vance, The Leo Baeck Education Center, Brainstrust and Radlett Reform

You are able to donate online or you can send a donation to the synagogue office.

Note on distribution of monies
All monies will be distributed equally across our 4 charities unless you tell us otherwise. You can tell us as part of the online donation process.

ADD-Vance

The ADD-vance ADHD and Autism Trust is a small registered charity in Hertfordshire with a team of dedicated trainers, coaches, admin staff and volunteers who are also parent carers of children and young adults with ADHD and autism.

The charity provides a confidential, safe and friendly atmosphere where parents can speak freely about their child/family issues.

Donations will be used to:

* fund support groups for a whole year (approx. 300 people) or

* enable 20 parents to attend a specialist 6-week course or

* fund the Helpdesk for 1.5 days per week for a year or

* fund 10 families to receive specialist 1-2-1 coaching at home

Leo Baeck Education Center

The Leo Baeck Education Center is a pioneering institution, affiliated with the Israeli Reform Movement and based in Haifa. One of its objectives is to promote religious plurality and cultural diversity in Israel. This year we have the opportunity to support one of their key projects as they provide invaluable help to immigrant families from impoverished countries, trying to acclimatise and adapt to a new country and way of living.

Our support is especially needed to help the pre-school age Ethiopian children and other children from low income families in Haifa get a better start in life.

Brainstrust

Being told ‘you have a brain tumour’ is terrifying, isolating and confusing. Brainstrust is the charity and community that is available to help these people and look after them whoever they are and wherever they are on their journey.

Our support means they can help thousands more people feel in control, less alone and be less afraid.

Donations will be used to:

* pay for books, helping patients understand and manage fatigue symptoms

* fund professional support and counselling for patients and their families

* fund Meetups for patients and families to share their experiences with others in the same situation, in a friendly stress-free setting.

Radlett Reform

In addition to our external charities, it is our custom to ask members to support a special project at Radlett Reform that wouldn’t otherwise be met by our general income. This year we want to continue to provide better facilities in our sanctuary. Dependent upon funds there is much that can be improved with our sound, lighting and audio-visual capability.
