Why we need your help

Stalking is one of the most common forms of interpersonal violence in the UK: 1 in 5 women and 1 in 10 men will be a victim of stalking in their lives (UK government statistics). Crime Survey of England & Wales 2017 found that 4.9% of women had experienced stalking in the previous year, equating to 734,000 women, making stalking as pervasive as domestic abuse. The National Stalking Helpline at Suzy Lamplugh Trust empowers women who are being stalked to access the support services they need to take back control of their lives. Stalked women can be incredibly vulnerable, and criminologists have found stalking behaviours in over 9 out of 10 murder cases (of women, by men). Stalking has a significant impact on victims' physical, emotional, financial and psychological well-being, as well as causing feelings of fear and being unsafe. For every one victim of stalking, 21 other people are put at risk by the perpetrator, including the victim's children, family, friends and colleagues. Since 2010 we have supported around 30,000 victims of stalking, though there are still thousands who need our support. Every £1 you donate allows us to reach out to and support a greater number of victims. Thank you for your generous donations to support stalking victims, thank you for being their heroes.
