Save The Crosfield Bell
Why we need your help
The Warrington Civic Society has launched an urgent fundraising appeal to save the historic Crosfield Bell which was recently removed from the bell tower at St Thomas’ Church in Stockton Heath.
The bell was donated by John Crosfield in 1883 in memory of his wife Eliza who passed away in 1882. The 133 year old bell is at risk of being melted down in just two weeks unless the Warrington Civic Society can raise the much needed funds in 11 days to save this local piece of history.
The Walton Lea Partnership, a charity providing individual learning and skills development and supported employment to adults with learning disabilities have offered to re-home the bell in their Victorian Walled Garden which is based in what remains of the Crosfield Mansion, thus bringing the bell back to the home of the Crosfield Family and giving their many visitors the opportunity to admire the bell at close quarter.
In the unfortunate case of the campaign being unsuccessful any funds raised will be split 50/50 between Warrington Civic Society and The Walton Lea Partnership.
