The Remembering Tree 2018

The Remembering Tree 2018

Why we need your help

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ALL DONORS: PLEASE SELECT 'CHARITY MARKETING ALLOWED' WHEN PROMPTED. THIS WILL ALLOW US TO SEE YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS IN OUR REPORTS AND SEND YOU YOUR 'CELEBRATION CARD'. IF YOU DO NOT SELECT THIS WE CAN NOT SEE WHERE YOUR DONATIONS HAVE COME FROM. YOU CAN AMMEND YOUR COMMUNICATION PREFERENCES WITH US. WE DO NOT PASS ON YOUR DETAILS TO ANY THIRD PARTIES. THANK YOU

The Remembering Tree offers a unique way to let people know you love them and to remember those who are no longer here.

It’s about celebration, remembrance and charity; three things synonymous with Christmas.

By donating you will also be helping to create a focal celebration for thousands to enjoy over the Christmas period and supporting the work of GAGA UK in Africa (Registered Charity 1092028).  Making a donation, celebrating a loved one and helping communities and children in Africa are all wonderful gifts; the Remembering Tree gives you the opportunity to do all three.

The Remembering Tree will be made up of lots of crocheted and knitted squares, each representing loved ones. See the photo below to get an idea of what it will look like!

Some of these squares have been produced in South Africa by women from poor communities to help boost their income and gain new skills. Others come from the local community, as well as individuals across the UK.

After we take the yarn squares down, the wool will be washed and recycled in to blankets to be either sent back to Southern Africa or given to a homeless charity in the local area.

Celebrate life in all its colours!

This year you are able to donate for a square, a bauble, a star or even a tree, in celebration or remembrance of a loved one.

Each donation of £5 represents 1 square = 1 person to be remembered, celebrated, or show someone special you love them. You can purchase as many as you like.

You can purchase a star for £10, with one person to be remembered per star. The star will be hung on the tree and when the yarn is taken down in the new year, it will be posted to you to keep.

You can purchase a bauble for £25, with four people to be remembered per bauble. The bauble will be hung on the tree and when the yarn is taken down in the new year, it will be posted to you to keep.

Business sponsorship is also available.

We will also be offering knitted stars - more information to follow.

Each name will be placed on a board next to the finished tree and a donwloadable list will also be available on our website. Names will also be put in the Stratford Herald (Midweek edition) the week before Christmas.

To donate please select a donation amount, or click on 'Give Now' above.

Please remember to clearly type the full name/names of those you wish to be remembered.

If you have any problems at all, please contact Sarah at the GAGA Office on 01789 414088 or email her on sarah@gaga-uk.org
