Centre 33 Cambridge Half-Marathon Team

Why we need your help

12 runners are coming together as Team Centre 33 to take on the 13.1 mile Cambridge Half-Marathon on Sunday 3rd March 2019 to raise money for the charity and to support young people across Cambridgeshire.

Your support can help us to get over the line and reach our fundraising target so that we can continue and expand our work with young people.

Cambridge Half-Marathon runners

Centre 33 was established in 1981 at 33 Clarendon Street in Cambridge. We now provide services to young people aged 8-25 through five main hubs in Cambridge, Ely, Peterborough, Huntingdon and Wisbech, as well as in a large number of secondary schools and community venues.

Each year we work directly with over 2,000 young people, and respond to over 6,500 enquiries through our drop-ins and helplines.

Our mission is to support young people, aged 8 – 25, with their practical and emotional needs. We do this through a variety of free and confidential services, which include one-to-one support, counselling, advocacy, group work and respite activities.

We help young people to:

  • Become emotionally and physically healthy
  • Be safely housed
  • Be in employment or meaningful education / training
  • Have improved financial situations

We also help to reduce the negative impact of their caring responsibilities.

Young Carers at Centre 33

Of the 152,561 children and young people living in Cambridgeshire aged between 11 and 25, it is estimated that 24,000 have a diagnosable mental health problem. Furthermore, evidence suggests that half of all mental health conditions are established before the age of 14. The right help at the right time can help to prevent problems escalating, impacting positively on the lives of children and young people and having major societal benefits.

“The minute I walked in I felt welcome. I didn't feel alone. I could come back if I needed to. (They) helped me to get into work and housing.”
