Oswestry Rotary Club Tree of Light 2020
Why we need your help
Oswestry Rotary Club's Tree of Light returns again this year to Oswestry's Festival Square. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, there will be no gathering and singing of carols at the usual happy Switch On event. Instead the tree will be managed by the Town Council and may be seen at its location outside Oswestry's Pickles and Square One shops.
Our Book of Remembrance with your dedications will be kept in Oswestry Library this year.
For nearly 25 years, the Rotary Club of Oswestry has run this appeal around this time each year to allow donors to remember significant events while raising funds to support local charities; as such it is a much valued event for both the donors and the charities supported alike.
2020 will surely be a momentous year for all the community.
Members of the public may commemorate an important event in their lives by lighting a bulb on their Tree of Light for a minimum donation of £5.00 marking happy events such as a marriage, the safe birth of a child or even a graduation or new job to share their good fortune with others. Many donors take the opportunity to mark the sad passing of a loved one by recording their name in a Book of Remembrance.
If you would like to donate to the appeal you may download a Sponsor Form from the Club’s website and return it, together with your cheque, to the the address on the form or sponsor here via the Club’s Virgin Money Giving website - all details can be found on www.rotarycluboswestry.co.uk.
Last year the appeal raised over £4,700 and supported 4 main local charities. With the help of our business sponsors, and the many members of the general public who generously sponsor a light, the Club hope to exceed that figure this year.
This year the appeal will support small local charities.
