Winter Appeal

Why we need your help

Earlier this year, the Vagina Museum raised an incredible £50,000 through crowdfunding, which has enabled us to move into our first premises and open our doors with our first exhibition Muff Busters: Vagina Myths and How to Fight Them. Unfortunately, this crowdfunder fell short of our target goal so we need to ask for your help to make up the difference.
In a world where 65% of women aged 16-25 say they have a problem using the words vagina or vulva, 1 in 4 girls did not learn about periods before they started having them and there has been a 500% increase in the number of labiaplasties on the NHS, it’s clear we need a space to educate about and celebrate vaginas, vulvas and the gynaecological anatomy. That’s why we’re here: a bricks-and-mortar space dedicated to this much-stigmatised but perfectly normal part of the anatomy.
“This is so good...the kids need to see this. I think this is my place. The universe brought me here today” - A visitor who stumbled upon us during a visit to Camden Market
Since opening our doors with a pre-opening programme of events, we’ve had over 500 people attend an event focusing on the gynae anatomy, feminism, women’s rights and health. Our Muff Busters exhibition focuses on breaking down taboos and challenging myths and misconceptions about the gynaecological anatomy.
When we started this project, we knew there was an appetite for an educational and empowering space to learn about vaginas, vulvas and the gynaecological anatomy, and we’re seeing that positive change before our eyes.
Here’s where we need your help. Running a museum is expensive. This winter, we want to match what we raised in the crowdfunder and raise another £50,000 for maintaining the museum and developing future exhibitions. We’ve got a host of exciting things planned including more exhibitions, even more events, and outreach work. Donations from fanny-tastic individuals like you help us to make this happen. Will you help us raise £50,000 this winter?

The Vagina Museum has a membership programme and an inner circle patrons programme, which is available to all donors to our winter appeal. We’ll give Cliterati membership to all donors above £50; Labia Majora tier Inner Circle membership to all donors above £500; and Labia Minora tier Inner Circle membership to all donors above £1200.

Earlier this year, the Vagina Museum raised an incredible £50,000 through crowdfunding, which has enabled us to move into our first premises and open our doors with our first exhibition Muff Busters: Vagina Myths and How to Fight Them. We find ourselves frequently butting heads with social media providers and online platforms, finding ourselves banned from advertising due to the nature of our name - so we need extra help making ourselves known to the world.

In a world where 65% of women aged 16-25 say they have a problem using the words vagina or vulva, 1 in 4 girls did not learn about periods before they started having them and there has been a 500% increase in the number of labiaplasties on the NHS*, it’s clear we need a space to educate about and celebrate vaginas, vulvas and the gynaecological anatomy. That’s why we’re here: a bricks-and-mortar space dedicated to this much-stigmatised but perfectly normal part of the anatomy.

We all need better education about sexual health - and vaginas and vulvas especially. As a person with Vaginismus, and who really didn?t hear enough information or get to talk enough while growing up, I truly support what you?re doing! Thank you!
