Buy A Brick for the BIG Fund
Why we need your help
Exciting work has started in Baildon!
We have raised an impressive £900,000 since 2010 and work is now progressing well on the building of our new and super-eco community building, which will be called "The Fold". Why not come and visit us @Wesleys and see the first floor of the impressive Passivehaus structure coming together!
To complete our vision for this stage of our BIG Project works, we need to raise a further £250,000 by June 2019. Filling this funding gap will mean that we don't need to resort to taking of loans, which we are very keen to avoid so that future incomes can be reinvested in the community, rather than paying off debt.
Please help us raise these remaining funds by donating to our BIG Fund via this 'Buy a Brick' campaign website! Please leave us a message to spur us on - and even better, if you have memories of the (now demolished) Marley Hut, please share them with everyone!
More about The Fold:
This investment in the Baildon community will see the current "Marley Hut" building, a single story 1950’s temporary structure that was no longer fit for purpose, replaced with a two story structure, built to Passivhaus standards.
The Fold, will:
- Provide Baildon Village Pre-School with a larger, more modern, purpose built facility ("The Lower Fold"), complete with the latest teaching resources and enabling them to double the number of sessions offered to Baildon families and enabling children related services to be extended into weekends and school holidays.
- Create a new second floor ("The Upper Fold") for community use, enabling us to serve more organisations, such as Girlguiding, new Scout groups, table tennis, film clubs and underpin our desire to double the size of our Youth Club.
The work that we will do to our buildings will also radically reduce the carbon footprint of our whole buildings estate in the heart of Baildon. We will be adding a further 28 Solar Panels to our existing electricity generation capacity, and replacing all windows with high standard, triple glazed units. Modifications to our meeting rooms and toilet facilities will also entirely remove gas based heating systems from our estate, providing the community and our users with better, more modern facilities that use less power and water, and cost us less to maintain in the long term - thus protecting key community services in Baildon for generations to come.
Thank you for your support!
