Charity Partner - Weybridge 10k 2019

Citizens Advice Elmbridge West (CAEW) is delighted to be charity partner for this year's  Weybridge 10k, a closed roads running race, taking place on Sunday, 23rd June 2019, in Weybridge, Surrey. This charity partnership creates an opportunity to connect with new audiences in the local community, grow awareness and improve the accessibility of the advice service, ultimately helping more people to solve the problems they are facing in life. The charity supports about 4000 clients a year.

Citizens Advice wil be entering a team of 10 runners into the event, running to raise funds specifcally to support our work supporting children in Elmbridge, who have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse.

How do we help the Elmbridge Community?

CAEW supports the residents of Walton on Thames, Weybridge and Hersham who are facing problems in life, providing them with the knowledge and confidence they need to find their way forward. The advice service is free, independent, confidential and impartial. Advice is given to help solve problems surrounding Debt, Housing, Benefits, Consumer purchases, Employment, Discrimination, Immigration and Family problems.

CAEW is a unique Citizens Advice branch in the UK, hosting a specialist domestic abuse service; known as North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service, supporting those experiencing or recovering from being in an abusive relationship and their children.

Help us raise funds!

We are looking to raise a minimum of £2000 by entering a team of 10 runners into this years Weybridge 10k. These funds will be used to support services provided by North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service helping children recover from witnessing or experiencing domestic abuse.

 · Research shows that 90% of domestic abuse occurs while a child is in the same or next room.

 · In 40-60% of cases where women were abused, children were abused by the same man.

  · Domestic abuse accounts for 25% of all crime in Surrey.

How this funding will help make a difference in Elmbridge.

With this funding we will be able to extend our recovery and therapy workshops for children living in Elmbridge, who have experienced domestic abuse.

We are most grateful to any donations received in this campaign and thank you also to the runners! Good luck!
