COVID-19 Emergency Appeal

COVID-19 Emergency Appeal

Why we need your help

Careline’s fundraising income has already been seriously affected by the impact of COVID-19 and will continue to be affected while the lockdown and social distancing measures are in place; putting our much-needed service at risk.

We have to plan for the worst, which could be a potential drop of up to £20,000 in income this year.

Careline Calling provides telephone befriending for people who are lonely, isolated and vulnerable. We rely on grants and voluntary donations to continue our vital work. Careline is a registered, small independent charity, which provides all its services free of charge.

Our members in the Derbyshire Dales and East Staffordshire desperately need us. Our 70 fully trained volunteers deliver 22,000 calls and 2,200 hours of one to one telephone befriending every year; helping to support some of the most lonely, isolated and vulnerable people in our community.

We support approximately 100 people locally providing peace of mind to their family and friends. The number of people we call is rising due to a surge in referrals as we support our front line health and social care services, particularly where visits can no longer be made.

We’re doing all we can to keep our service running as long as we possibly can for those who need it most.

Fewer people are sending us donations and our fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed. As more people self-isolate, our community fundraising is severely compromised.

We need your support now more than ever.

Please help us to continue to support our members during these challenging times.

How can you help?

  • Make a donation
  • Ask friends and family to make a donation
  • Join us on Facebook and share our posts with friends and groups. Search ‘Careline Calling’
  • Get sponsored for doing something whilst you’re self-isolating such as an exercise bike marathon, watching the entire series of Friends, ping pong tournament. Ask us for sponsorship forms and we’ll email them out to you.
  • If you think you can help with anything else, or need more information, we’d love to hear from you.

For more information you can email us at or call 01335 210353.

Thank you so much

Other Ways To Donate

Donate by post

Cheques or postal orders should be made payable to ‘Careline’ and sent to:

Careline Calling
St. Oswald’s Hospital
Clifton Road

All donations will be acknowledged as soon as possible by post. For security reasons, please do not send cash.

People often find it helpful to make a donation to Careline in memory of a loved one. This is a nice way of honouring a family member or friend while helping a local charity. As a registered charity, Careline relies on the support and generosity of the community it serves.
