Coronavirus Hardship Fund
Why we need your help
We are creating this fund to help all our destitute visitors who are going to have to cope with the Coronavirus outbreak and its economic and societal consequences, but who cannot rely on help from the welfare system. A majority of HMSC visitors are destitute and homeless, a lot of them do not have recourse to public funds. They rely on charities like ours to meet their most basic needs - we distribute food bank vouchers, food parcels, clothes, as well as providing lunch at our drop-in.
At this time, we cannot be sure if we can run the drop-in in a way that would be safe to our visitors, volunteers and staff. What we can do also largely depends on the functioning of other services, including other charities, solicitors' firms and social services departments of local authorities.
It is relatively easy to distribute small amounts of money whilst keeping to the rules of social distancing. If you can donate money please do that instead of donating food or clothes, or instead of offering your time as a volunteer. We can guarantee that 100% of the funds donated through this appeal will go directly to those who need them most.
Thank you
