Why we need your help

Saving Wildlife Together

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the temporary closure of both Bristol Zoo Gardens and Wild Place Project.

In line with Government Guidance, due to the national lockdown, we will be closing our doors to visitors for a second time, from Thursday 5 November.

2020 has been an incredibly challenging year, in fact, the most challenging year in our 185-year history. Following our closures earlier in the year and limits on visitor numbers throughout the summer, we are currently facing a multi-million-pound loss for 2020.

Faced with a second closure, we urgently need your help and support.

As a conservation and education charity, we rely on visitor income to fund our work at Wild Place Project and Bristol Zoo Gardens, and also our vital conservation and research projects spanning four continents.

We might be closed at the moment, but our animals still need to be fed, cared for during illness and enabled to thrive. Our estate and infrastructure also needs to be maintained to ensure a safe home for all the animals in our care. Many of our specialist animal, veterinarian and estates teams are remaining on both sites to ensure we can achieve this. Other staff are oiling the wheels remotely supporting visitors with questions letting them know how our Members, Annual Pass Holders and friends can help.

We understand that these are difficult times and your priorities remain closer to home. If you are able to donate, please do, and let others know of the BZS Appeal. This is hugely appreciated.

You can also help through spreading the word to others and fundraising on our behalf. Please contact development@bristolzoo.org.uk for help and support.

 Take care and stay well.
