Give a child in Hackney the gift of Christmas this year

Think back to when you were a child. Can you picture it? Christmas day? The anticipation before opening a present, the expectation as you took off the wrapping paper, the excitement as the corner of something you’d been hoping for poked out from behind the greens and reds that covered it. Wasn’t that just the best feeling in the world?

That’s what Christmas is supposed to feel like as a young person. That’s what about 200 children aged 4-12 years old that we work with in Hackney may miss out on due to Covid-19 and the economic impact that this has had on many families.

Sadly, as tends to be the case, it’s the lowest-income and most disadvantaged families who will suffer the most. Families who are already, right this moment struggling to afford basic necessities like food, clothes, and household essentials. 

Put yourself in the shoes of one of these children; instead of opening a present, they’re sitting beside an empty Christmas tree. Not such a pleasant picture.

We want to do something special for these families and children here at SkyWay Charity.

To help, it’s simple:

All you need to do is donate the amount needed for a present. We’ve all been somebody’s Secret Santa before, but this is your chance to be somebody’s Secret Santa who’s depending on someone to step in and make their Christmas a memorable one. Somebody with no control over the tough circumstances, horrible pandemic, and simple bad luck that they find themselves forced to be a part of.

We've been giving out emergency care packages to people affected by the Coronavirus to support them through what is a hugely difficult time. Packages include food and household essentials for families and individuals in the community who are having to self isolate and quarantine during lock-down. Please see the video below for the kind of work that we're already doing in the community.
