The BLD Foundation is a registered charity and its aim is the advancement of education for those of African, Asian, Caribbean and other ethnic minority and/or those from socio-economically underprivileged backgrounds.

The Foundation is changing lives and transforming businesses by its focus on talent, diversity and social mobility, and by supporting young people aged 13-30 towards achieving their fullest potential. The Foundation's flagship programme is the Legal Gateway Scheme which was started by its founder, Debo Nwauzu in January 2008.

The Foundation works very closely with schools and universities nationally and we are hugely grateful for the support of our sponsors, donors, supporters, trustees, advisory board members and patrons who make our work possible.

Our programmes

The programmes we offer have greatly expanded - and so have the number of beneficiaries. We therefore need to increase the Foundation’s income to ensure that we can offer similar and new opportunities to existing and future participants. Furthermore we also need funding for essential overheads, such as staffing costs, office premises and students’ expenses; the latter cost being unique to the BLD Foundation as it ensures that money, or the lack of it, is never a bar to participation.

We hope that you wish to be counted in as a supporter of the important work of the BLD Foundation in order to help it grow for the benefit of existing and future beneficiaries and are so very grateful for any support that you are able to provide.

Just some of what our sponsors, schools and beneficiaries have said about our work

“What haven’t I gained from the programme? The LLP has literally launched my career, but beyond that it has launched me personally. It has given me a personal self-belief and confidence, as well as numerous skills and real life experiences, which no other scheme could. Through the invaluable opportunities offered I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I know what I want to do, but more importantly I now know what I have to do and how to do it!”

“We receive many sponsorship requests and are selective in choosing the organisations we support. The energy and enthusiasm of the BLD Foundation was evident from our first meeting. We knew immediately that we wanted to be a part of its good work.”

"The LLP programme gave me the skills and confidence to believe that I can succeed.”

“We are delighted to be working with BLD Foundation on the Today’s Children Tomorrow’s Lawyers programme. TCTL gives us a chance to offer encouragement, provide information and refresh our own ideas”.

'Inspirational, motivating and practical - the LLP programme has furthered my career more than I could have imagined.'

“The programme is an important initiative for our diversity agenda as it not only reaches out to these students but also has been a rewarding learning experience for us.”

“The LLP programme is a fantastic experience that shows no matter what your background is, where you came from or how you started, there are always opportunities available to you and that everyone has the potential to be successful.”

“The BLD Foundation has provided exceptional opportunities for {our} pupils. Their commitment to providing solid knowledge and advise about the legal profession, as well as giving pupils a window through which to see the sort of future they might be able to achieve, provides invaluable inspiration to work hard and achieve the very best.”

 “An invaluable confidence booster!”
