Just a Little Run Around Britain...

The challenge?

An epic 5,000 mile, anti-clockwise run around the wiggly edge of mainland Britain.

The challenger?

Simon Clark, Ecologia’s intrepid adventurer, who was inspired to fulfill a childhood dream to run round the entire British coast after reading Rosie Swale Pope's book Just a Little Run Around the World.

Heading west and then north, Simon left Ecologia’s base in Findhorn, Morayshire on Easter Sunday 2016. Running, camping, taking up offers of floors to sleep on, AND keeping up with his architectural job so that every penny donated can go to our work, his journey of five thousand brief encounters is expected to be completed in the summer of 2017.

The purpose?

To celebrate Ecologia Youth Trust’s 20th Anniversary and raise £20,000 to support its work with disadvantaged children and young people in Russia, Kenya, Uganda, Myanmar, and Scotland.

Ecologia's vision is a world where all our young can thrive within their own communities. Since 1995 it has been working to enable children and young people who have been abandoned, neglected or orphaned to realise their own individual potential. Working with local partners, Ecologia empowers youngsters to create sustainable, resilient communities by improving their education, health and welfare, and by supporting them to protect their natural environment. How can I support?

Simon is running because he wants to give as many children as possible a better start in life. To help him reach his £20,000 target, please donate using the options below.

To support, select a 'Give' button below or enter an amount of your own choosing here:

Every penny goes a long way in the countries in which Ecologia works, and every donation is always gratefully received.

What else can I do to help?

You are warmly invited to join Simon at any point during his journey. Cyclists who can carry his backpack for a few hours or runners/walkers who can provide a bit of chat and company are always a bonus!

Meals and offers of beds/floors to sleep on are also welcome. With no support van and unable to carry much in the way of supplies, Simon is trusting in the kindness of strangers.

Alternatively, why not set up an event of your own? Simply click here and dance, cycle, knit or do whatever inspires you to help Simon reach his target and enable the youngsters Ecologia sustains to believe that one day they too will be able to take to the road and fulfill their dreams!

To follow his progress, read Simon's story; immerse yourself in his evocative Facebook blog; check out our album of photos taken by Simon along the coast; browse our media archive of news articles and radio interviews with Simon; and/or sign up to our mailing list for updates.
