Help us create a £200,000 fund to tackle environmental issues in our community

Are you passionate about environmental issues in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland?

Can you help us, or do you know somebody who can help us with this challenge?

The Challenge

We were set a challenge to raise £100,000 in donations, in order to unlock pledges by the Community Foundation and Greggs Foundation totalling up to further £100,000. This will create a £200,000 dedicated environmental endowment fund for Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

We now only need to secure a minimum of £5,000 in donations by 30 April 2018 to enable us to reach our target.

Why Give

There is mounting evidence to show that the quality of our air, green spaces and waterways has a significant impact on the health and wellbeing on us as individuals, as well as our planet. Yet environmental philanthropy still only represents less than 4% of total giving by UK foundations.

dedicated environmental endowment fund at the Community Foundation will help to increase the overall level of financial support for environmental causes and ensure that projects addressing local environmental challenges can continue to improve our area for the benefit of all for years to come.

After 10 years’ of collaborative funding and learning through the Local Environmental Action Fund (LEAF), we are now creating an endowment fund at the Community Foundation as a legacy to support environmental grant-making in perpetuity.
