UPDATE: We are blown away by the support we have received from the local community: members of the public and local companies. We have been approached with countless offers of support, donations and kind words. Events like this really do show the community spirit of Hull. Thank you to everyone who has shown their support in some way, we are extremely grateful.

We are now looking at sourcing a storage unit/container to house all of your wonderful offers of donations in. This will hopefully get us back on track.

Thanks again, from all at Men in Sheds Hull.

In the early hours of Tuesday 7th November, a fire was started at Men in Sheds Hull storage unit on Oak Road Playing Fields in Hull.

It is believed the fire was started deliberately, and we are now appealing for donations so we can replace the damaged/destroyed items lost in the fire.

Men in Sheds Hull is a charity with the aim of reducing isolation and loneliness for older men in the Hull area. In the ‘shed’ on Oak Road Playing Fields, members come together three times weekly to socialise, share and learn skills as well as carry out practical activities like wood and metal work.

The main things lost in the fire:

- Good quality timber (the majority of which was bought to build projects e.g. garden benches, big deckchairs etc, for other community groups)

- Paint

- Electric drills

- Electric handsaws

- Jetwash

- Scroll saw

- 3 large tables
