Norfolk Superhero 2017
Why we need your help

To add yourself as a fundraiser for this event, see below.
This is the 11th year of the Norfolk Superhero Challenge, which is a quadrathlon held annually in June, when the tides are right, at Burnham Overy Staithe on the beautiful North Norfolk coast.
Participants take part in teams of 2 over a course that includes a 1 mile swim, a 4 mile kayak through the creeks, a 45 mile circular cycle route and an 8 mile run across the beach finishing with the last mile over the marsh. Teams must stick together and help each other out although there is a good mix of competition on show as well.
Named after the village’s Hero Pub, the event has, over the years, grown from a small band of friends to a maximum of 200 competitors, all of whom raise money for charity every year.
Having previously supported several large Norfolk based charities over the years, in 2017 we are delighted to be supporting some smaller local charities all working to improve people’s Mental Health and Wellbeing across the county;
Works to ensure there is a wide understanding of all aspects of acquired brain injury. The charity promotes independence and rehabilitation by providing information and support services directly to people with acquired brain injury, their families and carers.
The One to One Project
Provides long term professional support to adults in West Norfolk who are experiencing emotional and/or social distress and mental health difficulties.
The Matthew Project
Supports youths and adults across Norfolk with drug and alcohol related issues. The charity encourages people to make more informed choices concerning their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being and supports parents and families of drug or alcohol users.
Norfolk Superhero Community Grant Programme
As well as supporting the chosen charities above, we are working with Norfolk Community Foundation to create a Norfolk Superhero Foundation grant programme which will be advertised and community groups and charities will be invited to apply for funding for their projects.
The Foundation will support voluntary and community sector interventions which promote mental wellbeing for people facing isolation and exclusion with nowhere to turn under the following themes:
*Growing healthy young minds*
*Recovery, rehabilitation and moving forward positively*
More detail on how to apply for funding will follow soon.
