Why we need your help
Urgent appeal: Save starving penguin chicks in South Africa
Every year we help rescue hundreds of African penguin chicks who are abandoned by their parents as they go further away in search of food. Without intervention they would not survive. This is one of the most important actions for African penguin conservation as the population fell a devastating 70% between 2001 and 2013 and it continues to decline rapidly.
This year the chicks are coming in early and already we are caring for 430.Not only does this number continue to grow more rapidly than anticipated but the price of fish has sky-rocketed this season and we need to raise an extra £20,000 before Christmas to enable us to feed and care for all the chicks that urgently need help.
With less than 18,000 breeding pairs left in the wild in South Africa, African penguins are an endangered species and it remains critical to save every individual possible to increase numbers in the wild.
You can save penguin chicks by donating today.
