Why we need your help

Close the Gap - Pond House crowdfunding campaign

What is the Mount Camphill Community Cohousing?

A different and inspired supported living model with adults, some of whom have additonal needs.

"A choice to build community for the future".

Pond House in the village of Wadhurst is the addition we need to lead the way to authentically inclusive community and truly values:

  • individual choice
  • wellbeing on all levels
  • aspirations and voice
  • building a neighbourly Camphill setting

Why we need your help

Enabling Pond House to be extended, renovated, refurbished and kitted out.

Please help to make this pioneering new model of provision at Pond House for young people with learning disabilities offering supported, independent and community living, called “cohousing” become a reality.

About Pond House

The Mount Camphill Community is pleased to be launching its first crowdfunding appeal to help close the gap for their overall fundraising campaign for this new and inspired tested model of provision.
Pond House will become a new more independent home with learning disabled young adults choosing to live outside of The Mount’s main campus but within walking distance to it.

Pond House is a large family house situated in the heart of Wadhurst in East Sussex with its many amenities and services, and was purchased by The Mount in 2017 with a clear plan for it to become our next cohousing house offsite.  When finished Pond House will be a wonderful, inspirational, unique resource in the centre of Wadhurst village for young adults.  The Mount are paving the way with this model.  Cohousing is an innovative way to support people with learning disabilities in this difficult climate.

Our Goal

Today, you can help to improve this house to provide a home for six cohousing tenants, along with a family and two young volunteers who will also live there in supporting roles. Having already raised 89% of the target, we’re looking to raise £20,000 towards this appeal to close the gap for the overall fundraising appeal.

This house will serve the cohousers in a variety of ways.  For some it will be a way to reach beyond the sheltered environment of The Mount’s main campus and begin to further develop their skills, experience and confidence.  It will also be a permanent residence for some young people with learning disabilities who wish for the freedom and independence it offers, but with the security provided by The Mount.  Importantly Pond House will be a stepping stone to fuller independent living for those young people who wish to move on in future years to lead a completely independent life.

Please support The Mount to enable six young people to live at Pond House and live a more independent life within the home they need. Your contribution today will make a real difference to the lives of young adults with learning disabilities in our community now and for years to come.  Please give them your support.
